FAQ's
Why aren't there any walks in my area yet?
The site was created in the summer of 2007 and is yet to have strong presence in all counties. As more people become aware of the site, the number of walk suggestions will increase and this should lead to walk suggestions for your area. You can always be the first person to upload a walk from your area by clicking here
Can I add more than one walk?
Yes of course. The more walk suggestions you add the more choice other users will have.
I have posted a new route, but it hasn't appeared yet?
All the routes which are uploaded into the site, are sent to the site moderator for approval. This is to ensure we maintain our high standards, that the information is factual and that no inappropriate content is hosted on our site.
Why are you the only website that has free Ordnance Survey maps?
Although there are other online mapping services (such as Google Maps) which offer excellent mapping around towns and cities, we know that most users want to find good walking routes away from roads and motorways! This is why we've been able to supply OS maps which show far more detail in rural areas. You can also purchase the relevant OS map by clicking on the link in the walk details.
How can you afford to supply the maps and routes totally free of charge, when all the other walking sites charge a fee for information?
The site is run by parents, for parents rather than for the benefit of a large company. We get a small amount of revenue from our affiliates and advertisers when people click their links and make purchases. This allows us to cover the cost of the hosting and maintenance.
Can you explain the Gradient & Terrain criteria in more detail.
Yes, click here to read our definitions. We know that you'll be the best judge of your equipment and capabilities. Therefore this should be viewed as a guide, rather than our recommendation.
Why does the filter system not allow me to select the exact distance of the walk?
This functionality will be coming soon.
Aren't some routes going to be more difficult depending on the weather conditions?
Yes, which is why we use the filters as a guide only. For example, any woodland track will be more difficult after a rainstorm, or during the winter months. We only ask that people use their common sense and experience to prepare for the prevailing conditions.
What does the "NP" mean when it appears in your Regional search selector
NP is a simple abbreviation of National Park. Unfortunately we don't have enough horizontal space to write it out in full.
What if I complete a walk that is totally inappropriate for a buggy?
If this happens please contact us immediately, we will ensure that the walk is investigated further and if necessary removed from our database. It is very important to us that all users of Walks with Buggies have an enjoyable walking experience.
I have changed my email address - can I update this on the site?
Yes, use the edit profile button to change your details. Can we upload any photos to the site? We are hoping to add this functionality in the next few months, so watch this space!
Can I advertise on your site?
We are happy to have advertising on the site, as long as it fits with the site content. Please contact us for more details.
